Bihar Cabinet Endorses Nitish’s Project Blitzkrieg for Assembly Elections

Patna, February 25: Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday gave nod to a basket of proposals worth ₹50,000 crores. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had unveiled such projects during his almost month-long ‘Pragati Yatra’.
“Bihar got the gift of schemes worth ₹50 thousand crores from the Pragati Yatra of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Today, 243 schemes worth ₹30 thousand crores were approved for South Bihar at the level of the Council of Ministers and the Department,” said the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in a media statement.
It also stated that “earlier, 187 schemes worth ₹20 thousand crores were approved for North Bihar at the level of the Council of Ministers and the Department”. Thus, a total of ₹50 thousand crores worth of projects and schemes have got the nod of the Bihar Cabinet.
Chief Minister this week wrapped up his ‘Pragati Yatra’ during which he laid down foundation stones for several new projects. Kumar also unveiled projects which have been completed.
“Chief Minister’s Pragati Yatra has paved the way for development and prosperity in Bihar. Through this Pragati Yatra, Bihar has got the gift of various development schemes worth ₹50000 crores,” said the CMO.
The project blitzkrieg has come ahead of the October Bihar Assembly elections. Kumar has almost been in power in Bihar since 2005 except for a few months. He met the chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) JP Nadda on Tuesday also. Both the leaders discussed the poll strategy for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Assembly elections.
The NDA in Bihar is now consisting of the BJP, JD (U), and many smaller political outfits. The NDA constituents will soon be working out the seat adjustment formula for the Assembly elections.
Out of the total 120 schemes announced by the Chief Minister during his ‘Pragati Yatra’, five concern with energy department. “Through the Chief Minister’s Pragati Yatra, Bihar has received the gift of seven medical colleges, nine degree colleges, 14 sports complexes, 24 religious places, nine power grids, cleaning of six drains, eight industrial expansion, seven Atal Kala Bhawan and 189 schemes related to road bridge construction,” said the CMO in a statement.
