New Delhi, December 22, 2025 — Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met the top echelons of the NDA government at the Centre. Accompanied by his deputy Samrat Choudhary, the Bihar Chief Minister called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also met Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah. Kumar is in the national capital for the first time after winning the Bihar Assembly elections last month with record mandate.

Kumar’s meeting with the Prime Minister lasted for half an hour. The two leaders are learnt to have discussed the development projects in Bihar. But sources said that the meeting was largely a courtesy call after the Bihar verdict.

The Chief Minister met with Shah for just 15 minutes. Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan alias Lalan Singh was also accompanying the Chief Minister during his meetings with Modi and Shah. In the meeting with Shah, the Bihar leaders are learnt to have discussed “better coordination” among the constituents of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The visit of the Chief Minister to New Delhi also has come amid the spotlight on him for pulling the face covering of a Muslim woman Ayush doctor in Patna. His act had brought international scrutiny, particularly from the Muslim nations. His face covering pulling video went viral internationally while the Prime Minister was on a four-nation tour.

In Patna, political observers continue to debate on the likely length of the tenure of Kumar as the Chief Minister of Bihar. Bihar-based YouTubers are hosting discussions on a largescale to speculate if Kumar will complete his five-year term.

With the Janata Dal (United) ceding the Home Ministry portfolio to the BJP, the speculation is raging if Kumar is in full control of the state government. Kumar previously held the Home Ministry portfolio. Choudhary now holds the charge of the home ministry in Bihar. With him helming the department, the spotlight in the state is on Uttar Pradesh-style “bulldozer” actions on accused of crimes and “Romeo squads.”
