Niti Aayog Governing Council Meet Calls for Operation Sindoor Spirit for Viksit Bharat

NEW DELHI, May 24, 2025 – Operation Sindoor, India’s strikes inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) against Pahalgam terror attack, hogged limelight at the 10th Governing Council meeting of the Niti Aayog on Saturday at Bharat Mandapam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged upon the Chief Ministers to replicate the spirit of Operation Sindoor in the social sector, as well as achieving aims of ‘Viksit Bharat (developed India)’.

Niti Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam, while briefing the media on deliberations at the Governing Council meeting, said: “There was a unanimous voice in support of Operation Sindoor. All the Chief Ministers uniformly spoke on India’s actions against terror targets in Operation Sindoor.”

The Niti Aayog CEO elaborated that an overwhelming endorsement of Operation Sindoor summed up the federal spirit at the meeting. “The Prime Minister called upon the states to replicate the spirit of Operation Sindoor in advancing social and economic sector growth,” Subrahmanyam quoted the Prime Minister saying at the meeting.

Subrahmanyam also quoted the Prime Minister, saying that “Operation Sindoor mood should guide the path of achieving the goals of making the nation a Viksit Bharat. The states should take the spirit to not just target the 2047 goals but also plan for 2030 roadmaps. We now have this movement for us to achieve the goals of the people to achieve the aim of Viksit Bharat.”

The Niti Aayog CEO also stated that the Prime Minister spoke of the journey of the think tank panels in the last 10 years. “The Prime Minister also spoke of interlinking of rivers, at least at the intra-state levels,” said Subrahmanyam, quoting the Prime Minister.

Subrahmanyam also stated that a number of states are coming up with their respective vision documents. “Six states have already unveiled their vision documents. Five to six states will be unveiling their vision documents in the next two months. The call to prepare for vision documents by states was given in the last Governing Council meeting of the Niti Aayog,” said Subrahmanyam.

He also stated that “Andhra Pradesh has come out with the vision document to aim for a $2.5 trillion economy. Gujarat also has come out with a vision document for $3.5 trillion economy.”

Subrahmanyam also quoted the Prime Minister telling the Chief Ministers that the states should bring cities in focus for accelerated economic growth. The Prime Minister urged upon the states to adopt idea of ‘One District, One Product’. He also advocated the states to aim for exports.
