New Delhi, November 17, 2025 — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made another significant breakthrough in the Red Fort area car bomb blast case, arresting a second key associate linked to the main accused, Umar un Nabi. The blast, which rocked central Delhi near the Red Fort, killed 10 people and injured 32.

In a fresh statement issued on Monday, the NIA said it had arrested Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish, from Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir. Jasir, a Kashmir resident originally from Qazigund in Anantnag district, was detained by an NIA team stationed in the Valley to pursue leads in case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.

According to the agency, Jasir allegedly provided technical expertise for the terror module, including modifying drones and attempting to build rockets ahead of the attack. Investigators believe he worked closely with the main conspirator, Umar un Nabi, in planning the blast and providing logistical and technological support.

Monday’s arrest follows the NIA’s first major breakthrough came when the agency apprehended another Kashmiri operative who had allegedly helped Umar un Nabi assemble the explosive-laden vehicle used in the Red Fort attack. That suspect was also believed to be part of the core conspiracy circle and had assisted in procuring materials, scouting locations and coordinating movements in the days leading up to the explosion.

NIA officials said the latest arrest strengthens the picture of a well-organised terror module operating across multiple districts in Jammu & Kashmir, with clear division of roles ranging from technical support to execution. “Both men were active co-conspirators. Their roles were crucial to understanding the full scope of planning behind the Red Fort blast,” an investigator said.

The NIA added that its teams are pursuing multiple leads across several states to identify and apprehend every individual involved in the attack. Searches and interrogations are ongoing as the agency seeks to map the wider network that supported Umar un Nabi.

The Red Fort car bombing remains one of the most serious terror incidents of the year, prompting intensified counter-terror operations and inter-agency coordination across the country.
