New Delhi, July 2: Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said that the new school curriculum for foundation, elementary and secondary classes in line with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will be rolled out from the next academic session. Addressing a conclave by Public Policy Research Centre (PPRC) on the achievements of Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre, Pradhan said that the engineering study materials have also been made ready in 15 Indian languages in line with the NEP-2020.
The PPRC Director Sumeet Bhasin, while giving an account of the achievements in the education and health sectors, said that the Modi government gave a quantum jump to the two key social sector subjects with robust budgetary support. “Until Atal Bihar Vajpayee became prime minister, there were just one AIIMS, in Delhi. Vajpayee laid foundation for five more AIIMS. Just one more AIIMS was added during the 10-year Manmohan Singh government at the Centre. But under the Modi government, 15 more AIIMS were created,” said Bhasin.
Pradhan, while giving an account of the Covid-19 fightback, said that several Group of Ministers (GoMs) were formed, and each of them connected with the stakeholders at the grassroots. “I was also part of one GoM, and as part of regular exercise we would interact with district magistrates, Zila Panchayat and Municipal Corporation leaders, and other functionaries. One day a DM said that PPE kit was needed for protection against Corona. At that time we were not manufacturing PPE kits. But soon enough, India not only produced PPE kits for domestic requirements, but also began exporting,” Pradhan recalled, while stressing on the achievements in the health sector of the Modi government.
Delhi unit BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva lauded the PPRC research team for “meticulously analyzing the work done by the Modi government and also making a comparative analysis with previous governments”. Bhasin said that the Modi government besides creating “new infrastructure in health and education on a massive scale also achieved major achievements in the improvements in the social indicators with improvements in the school enrollments, lowering of maternal and infant mortality along with a major expansion in the coverage of the vaccination programme for women and children”.
The PPRC is holding conclaves across the country with stakeholders on achievements of the Modi government. The PPRC hosted its seventh conclave in the national capital, while three more will be held in the next few days.
