BJP President Credits Operation Sindhur, Economic Growth as Symbols of Strong, Transformative Leadership

By AMIT KUMAR

New Delhi, June 9, 2025 —Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda on Sunday asserted that decisiveness and aggression have become the “new normal” in India’s strategy against terrorism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, citing Operation Sindoor, surgical strikes and air strikes as turning points that have reshaped the nation’s global image.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Nadda said, “India today is no longer reactive but proactive. We have clearly conveyed that any act of terrorism will be treated as an act of war.” He credited Prime Minister Modi for setting a precedent by giving clear and bold responses to terror attacks, referencing the 2016 Uri attack and the 2019 Pulwama bombing, followed by surgical and air strikes respectively.

“The Prime Minister has never hesitated. After Uri, he declared ‘This will be answered’. After Pulwama, he warned, ‘You have made a grave mistake’ — and we saw the Balakot airstrike. More recently, in Bihar, he declared a response ‘beyond imagination’, leading to the complete destruction of terror bases in Pakistan,” Nadda said.

Left-Wing Extremism in Retreat

Highlighting internal security successes, Nadda said the Modi government had significantly weakened Left-Wing Extremism, with the number of affected districts dropping from 126 to just 18. He reported a 53% fall in violence, 72% decline in security force casualties, and a 70% reduction in civilian deaths, attributing this to a “zero-tolerance” policy and coordinated counter-insurgency strategy.

“All top Naxal leaders have been eliminated. We are moving steadily towards eradicating this threat,” he asserted.

Infrastructure Revolution at the Borders

In a sharp contrast to past policies, Nadda said that under the Modi government, border infrastructure has witnessed unprecedented development. “Earlier, a former Defence Minister said roads shouldn’t be built near borders. But now, under Modi’s vision, 8,000 km of border roads and 400 permanent bridges have been constructed,” he stated. Key projects like the Atal Tunnel, Sela Tunnel, and Shinkun La Tunnel were cited as examples of this transformation.

Economic Transformation Amid Global Headwinds

Nadda also underscored India’s rise as a global economic force, saying, “The merging of the rail budget with the general budget was a strategic step. As a result, India is now among the world’s top five economies, and soon to become the fourth-largest, as per IMF data.”

He highlighted key economic achievements:

  • 67% increase in per capita income
  • 135% surge in forex reserves
  • 106% rise in FDI
  • Record exports touching USD 825 billion
  • 238% growth in direct tax collections
  • 127% increase in number of taxpayers

“Global institutions like the IMF, World Bank, and World Economic Forum are unanimous in hailing India as the fastest-growing major economy and the main engine of global growth in 2025 and 2026,” Nadda added.

Vision for Viksit Bharat

Wrapping up, the BJP President said that the Modi government remains committed to building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and that this vision is being turned into reality through bold policy decisions and their swift implementation.

“This is not just about announcements. This is about real transformation on the ground. India, under PM Modi, faces challenges head-on—whether in national security or economic development,” Nadda concluded.
