By Raisina Correspondent

New Delhi, November 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday termed nepotism as biggest enemy of Jharkhand. In an election rally in Garhwa. Modi claimed that the Congress and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) seek “power for family members.

“Jharkhand has another big enemy and that is nepotism. The JMM-Congress-RJD, all these three parties are extremely nepotistic. These people want that the key to power should remain with their family only,” said Modi.

The prime minister asserted that the JMM insulted former state chief minister Chmpai Soren. “What did these people (JMM) do with Champai Soren ji… these people left no stone unturned to insult a tribal son,” added Modi.

The remarks of the prime minister against nepotism came amid reports of at least 40 candidates contesting the Jharkhand Assembly elections with family links to current and former chief ministers and ministers. The family members of the incumbent chief minister Hemant Soren lead the political dynasty in Jharkhand.

Former chief minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arjun Munda’s wife Meera Munda is contesting the Assembly elections from the Potka constituency. Former Chief Minister and current Odisha Governor Raghubar Das’s daughter-in-law Purnima Sahu Das is contesting elections from Jamshedpur East seat on the BJP ticket.

“Those for whom nothing is bigger than their family, how will they care about you people. Such selfish parties have to be taught a good lesson,” added the prime minister while addressing the public meeting in Garhwa. He also hit out at corruption, saying it hollows out the country like termites.

“Corruption makes the poor, Dalit, backward, tribals the most unhappy, ruins them. In the last five years, Jharkhand has seen how the JMM-Congress-RJD government has done corruption. Be it the Chief Minister, Minister, MLA, MP… there is no one left who is not accused of serious corruption,” added Modi.

The prime minister also raised the issue of illegal immigrants in Jharkhand. The BJP has vowed NRC (National Register for Citizens) in Jharkhand.

“They (illegal immigrants) are snatching your bread. They are snatching your daughter and they are usurping your soil as well. If this bad policy of JMM-Congress-RJD continues, the scope of tribal society in Jharkhand will shrink,” added the prime minister.

Modi argued that the illegal immigrants pose a big threat to both the tribal society and the security of the country. “This infiltrator alliance has to be uprooted with one vote,” added the prime minister.
