Modi to launch development projects for tribal in Jharkhand

New Delhi, October 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will add to the carpet-bombing of the Jharkhand poll turf. Modi will specially seek an outreach with tribal in Jharkhand.
The district administration in Hazaribagh in Jharkhand is in top gear for Modi’s two tribal-focused events. The prime minister is aiming to send out pro-tribal government image from Jharkhand.
The prime minister will interact with the vulnerable tribal community in Hazaribagh. As part of ‘PM Janman’, Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth more than ₹1360 crore.

Overall, Modi will unveil or lay foundation stones for projects worth over ₹83000 crores in Jharkhand on Wednesday. Ahead of announcement of poll dates by the Election Commission, Modi as a part of a pattern unveils or lays foundation stones of mega projects which run into thousands of crores of rupees.
The prime minister will also be laying foundation of a project for the electrification of more than 75,000 houses of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PGT) in 3000 villages.
Modi will also unveil ‘Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan’ on Wednesday. This plan seeks to reach out to five crore tribal people in 549 districts and 2,740 blocks of 30 states and Union Territories.

‘Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan’ aims for development in social infrastructure, health, education, livelihood by 17 ministries and departments of the central government. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools and lay the foundation stone of another 25 of them costing more than ₹2,800 crore.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has invested full might of the party machinery in Jharkhand. The EC is yet to announce the poll dates for the Assembly elections.
Modi is visiting Jharkhand for second occasion in quick succession. Several of the chief ministers of the BJP-ruled states are campaigning hard in Jharkhand.
The full focus of the BJP is to cut into the tribal vote base of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). The incumbent chief minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, is seeking consolidation of the tribal vote base.

The BJP had lost all the five tribal reserved parliamentary constituencies in the Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand. Soren is also cashing in on emotional sentiments of tribal on plank that the BJP-led government at Centre arrested him and kept in jail.
The BJP is raking up the issue of “threat to the tribal identity of tribal from the Bangladeshi infiltrators”. Modi’s visit to the state will add development plank to the emotional card of the BJP for tribal.
