New Delhi, April 13, 2025: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati announced return of her nephew Akash Anand in the party. She ruled out making Akash Anand her political heir.
Within weeks of expelling her nephew from the BSP, Mayawati in a series of posts on X announced that she had forgiven Akash Anand. But Mayawati stressed that she would not forgive father-in-law of Akash Anand, Ashok Siddharth for his “anti-party activities”.
“The decision to give another chance to Akash Anand has been taken in view of his publicly admitting mistakes in four posts today on X and giving full respect to the seniors,” said Mayawati in a post on X. She further stated that her nephew has made it clear that he would “not give in to his father-in-law’s words and dedicate his life to the BSP party and movement”.
Ruling out making her nephew political heir once more, Mayawati stated that “I am healthy now and as long as I am healthy, like honourable Shri Kanshi Ram ji, I will continue to work for the party and the movement with full dedication and commitment. In such a situation, there is no question of appointing someone as my successor.”
“I am firm on my decision and will remain so. However, after being expelled from the party, Akash has been continuously contacting people to apologize for all his mistakes and to not repeat such mistakes in future,” added Mayawati.
The BSP supremo also stated that “the mistakes of Akash’s father-in-law Ashok Siddharth are unforgivable. He has left no stone unturned in ruining Akash’s career along with his gross anti-party activities like factionalism etc”.
“Therefore, the question of forgiving him and taking him back into the party does not arise,” added Mayawati.
The BSP supremo announced her decision after her nephew posted four posts on X to unconditionally apologise for “his mistakes”. “I consider the National President of BSP, four-time Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and many-time Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Mayawati, as my only political guru and ideal. Today, I take this vow that for the benefit of Bahujan Samaj Party, I will not let my relations and especially my in-laws become an obstacle,” said Akash Anand in his first post on X.
He further stated that “not only this, I also apologize for my tweet made a few days ago, due to which respected sister expelled me from the party. And from now on I will ensure that I will not take any advice from any relative or advisor for any of my political decisions.”
“I will only follow the guidelines given by respected sister. And I will respect my elders and seniors in the party and will learn a lot from their experiences,” added Akash Anand.
After expelling Akash Anand from the BSP, Mayawati had entrusted his father Anand Kumar with the responsibility of running the affairs of the party. Anand Kumar and Ashok Siddharth are said to have been sparring, which led to their falling apart per sources.
