In the meeting, the current situation of pollution in Delhi and the strategy to deal with it in the pollution hot spot area was considered. The Environment Minister directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to visit the ground level on Saturday and ordered the Public Works Department to deploy 80 special mobile anti-smog guns.

The Air Quality Index has exceeded 300 at 13 places in Delhi. A coordination committee has been formed to deal with pollution in such areas. This committee will find out the reasons for increasing pollution and take appropriate action.

This committee will take all necessary steps to deal with cleanliness, construction work and pollution. It is worth noting that in view of the increasing pollution in Delhi, GRAP has been implemented in two phases. Under GRAP, many types of restrictions are imposed when pollution increases.

The Deputy Commissioner has been made in-charge of the hotspots for the 13 hotspots identified for pollution. The in-charge will prepare an action plan for the hotspots and implement them.

Strategy will be made on the basis of this report. Gopal Rai said that two smog towers were built in Delhi on the orders of the Supreme Court. The smog tower was built by the Central Government in Anand Vihar and the Delhi Government in Connaught Place.

But the smog towers are not working and a reply has been filed in the Supreme Court by the Central and Delhi Government regarding this. The Environment Minister criticised Delhi’s neighbouring states for showing little interest in tackling pollution and said it seems the BJP is playing politics in the name of pollution.
