Prayagraj, February 13: Mahakumbh 2025 is drawing foreign tourists beyond just the mystique of Naga Sadhus. This time, they are closely observing the festival’s cleanliness, traffic management, and event planning.
With record attendance, visitors are immersing themselves in Indian culture while gaining insights into its traditions and organizational excellence.
Agni Akhara Secretary Mahamandaleshwar Sampurnanand shared that visitors from several countries have arrived this year in Prayagraj. He said, “They are deeply interested in understanding the contrast between ascetic and household life.”
He added, “Foreign tourists are no longer just fascinated by the lives of Naga Sadhus; they are also delving into the intricate arrangements of Mahakumbh and exploring the depth of Sanatan culture.”
Jitendra Singh Negi, representing the High Commission Affairs of Ghana, expressed his profound connection with his ancestral roots. He shared, “My ancestors migrated from India to Ghana, and visiting Prayagraj for the first time has given me incredible insights into Sanatan Dharma.”
Meeting Guruji (Agni Akhara Mahamandaleshwar Sampurnanand) was enlightening as we uncovered the deep wisdom of our traditions, he added.
“I was accompanied by 16 other representatives, all deeply moved by Indian culture,” said the Ghana national.
Similarly, foreign tourist Ankita Upadhyay shared, “We had heard about Mahakumbh, but experiencing it firsthand has been overwhelming. The seamless arrangements at Sangam and its spiritual energy have left a lasting impression on us.”
According to the administration, tourists from over 50 countries have already visited Mahakumbh in 2025, and more are expected to arrive in the coming days. “This growing international interest highlights the festival’s spiritual significance and India’s expertise in managing such a colossal event with efficiency and devotion,” said the Uttar Pradesh government in a media statement.
An Italian delegation had earlier called on UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Italian women in the delegation had sung devotional songs. A large number of Russian nationals who became Naga Sadhus also gained spotlight during Mahakumbh.
The Ministry of External Affairs also arranged a special visit of diplomats from several countries to the Mahakumbh. The UP government is hopeful that the state will attract a massive surge in arrivals of foreign tourists after the Mahakumbh.
