New Delhi, December 14: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appears to be a role model for Mohan Yadav in Madhya Pradesh. Soon after taking oath as chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Yadav took two decisions which had made Adityanath gain the national spotlight ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

The Madhya Pradesh chief minister announced that there will be no use of loudspeakers from religious places beyond the permissible limits. Mohan Yadav also announced that meats will not be allowed to be sold in the open in Madhya Pradesh.

It may be recalled that the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh had launched a campaign against the use of loudspeakers and open sale of meat two years ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections. Also, on the lines of Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Mohan Yadav after taking oath of the office of the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh went to the Mahakal Temple in Ayodhya to offer prayers. Also, he spent long time in the temple. Thus, Yadav as Adityanath has made his temple visit a top spotlight in Madhya Pradesh.

A report from last year quoting officials of Uttar Pradesh government had said that the state administration had removed 10,923 loudspeakers which were being used at religious places. This action had followerd on the order of Adityanath. The order had called for the removal of unauthorized and illegal loudspeakers used at the religious places. The Uttar Pradesh government had launched a crackdown against the use of loudspeakers without the permission of the state administration.

The Uttar Pradesh administration had also ensured that the volume levels of another 35,221 loudspeakers were lowered to the permissible limits. Now that Madhya Pradesh chief minister has also spoken against the use of loudspeakers beyond the permissible limits, the state administration may launch a campaign on the lines of Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh government had said that the administration is only enforcing the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000.

Before the Uttar Pradesh government had launched the crackdown, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray had led a campaign against the use of loudspeakers at mosques. He had threatened to recite the Hanuman Chalisa at a higher volume levels outside mosques.

The Uttar Pradesh campaign against the open sale of meat was also intense which made several unauthorized shops to shut the shutters across the state. This crackdown again was seen highly popoular among the people and helped Adityanath gain an image of a tough task master. By enforcing ban on the sale of meat in the open, the state government also gained from revenue from the authorized shops whose numbers went up in the state. It may also be recalled that Adityanath was the most sought after campaigner in the recently held Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP had played a strong Hindutva card in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election also.
