Lok Sabha poll shocker mellows Modi magical marvel
Lok Sabha election 2024 result dents Modi domination in national politics

New Delhi, June 4: The people on Tuesday through the Lok Sabha poll mandate stunned Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Against the stated target of Modi to win 370 Lok Sabha seats for the Bharatiya Janata Party, the saffron outfit lost steam at the 240 marks.
Modi asserted that the people have given the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) a third straight term. Modi helmed the NDA government for two full terms with full majority of the BJP in the Lok Sabha.
Uttar Pradesh delivered a stunning blow to the grandiose ambitions of the Modi-led BJP. All efforts to polarise the voters backfired.
The BJP tally in Uttar Pradesh plummeted to 33 Lok Sabha seats. The BJP had 64 in the 2019 and 71 in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Uttar Pradesh singularly denied the BJP a majority in the Lok Sabha. Modi will now be dependent on allies for support to stay in power.
Modi had sought the popular mandate at a big scale to execute ‘big tasks’ in his third term. But the people cut him into the size with a much-reduced strength in the Lok Sabha.
The sharp dip in the tally of the BJP from 303 in the 2019 was accounted for by Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and West Bengal. The saving grace for the BJP was Odisha where the saffron outfit won a total of 19 Lok Sabha seats out of 21.

The BJP also survived further blushes by winning the Odisha Assembly elections. The incumbent Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, also lost his Assembly seat at the hustings.
“The BJP will introspect at the loss in Uttar Pradesh,” said the BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took swipe at the prime minister. “Modi broke parties while the people broke his morale,” said Banerjee.

The Trinamool Congress beat the anti-incumbency by winning 29 Lok Sabha seats. The BJP tally came down from 18 in 2019 to 12 Lok Sabha seats.
The BJP tally in Rajasthan also came down from 25 in 2019 to 14 Lok Sabha seats. The Congress staged a strong comeback in Rajasthan by winning eight Lok Sabha seats.
While the BJP suffered major dent in Rajasthan, the BJP pride was intact in Madhya Pradesh where the party struck 100 per cent result by winning all the 29 Lok Sabha seats.
