New Delhi, January 2: While the New Orleans car crash attack is at the centre stage, the Las Vegas Cybertruck explosion has security experts busy with closer scrutiny. The driver of the Cybertruck has been the lone casualty in the Las Vegas incident on Wednesday.
“The Las Vegas Cybertruck explosion appears likely to be an act of terrorism,” said Bill Gately, a strategy affairs expert. a Tesla truck exploded on Wednesday outside the Trump Las Vegas hotel in Nevada. Authorities are probing the incident as a possible act of terror.
“The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said it was investigating a fire at the entrance to the tower,” ABC News said in a report, adding that the “public was told to avoid the area”.
Gately stated that “the Tesla Cybertruck contained explosives, including fireworks, gas tanks, and camping fuel, all connected to the detonation system which the driver actuated”. He suggested that the driver of the Tesla truck actually failed in executing the bigger terror plot.
On Wednesday morning, New Orleans woke up to a major terror incident with a truck ramming into a crowd. Fifteen people died in the incident. Scores of the people have been injured.
Both the trucks had been booked through the same booking app, Turo. The US President Joe Biden has warned against an early conclusion. Biden directed a multi-agency probe in the New Orleans incident of car crash into a crowd which had been celebrating the onset of the new year.
“Not sure if they’re linked. But this is noteworthy,” added Gately while listing the loads on the Cybertruck that exploded outside a Trump hotel.
Meanwhile, the investigators have told reporters that they were not sure what caused the blast. “Whether something was wrong with the vehicle or whether something external prompted it…The key focus of the probe is to determine what was behind the explosion,” officials told reporters.
Biden has suggested in his address to the nation that the New Orleans car crash incident was a kind of a lone wolf act. He said that the man behind the wheel had been a former US military person which had also been posting videos with violent contents on social media.
But the security experts are taking a close look at flag found with the New Orleans truck, which is linked to the ISIS and Türkiye-based Jihadists. Recently, the Türkiye-based rebels overran Syria to overthrow the Bashar al-Assad regime in Damascus.
