New Delhi, August 31: The annual meeting of the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh (RSS) with all its affiliates began on Saturday morning in Palakkad, Kerala. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Jagat Prakash Nadda is also attending the meeting.
The all-India coordination meeting of the RSS is taking place amid two principal challenges within the saffron outfit. The RSS is giving utmost importance to the political upheavals in Bangladesh.

The RSS is also allowing the BJP to repair bond with the organisation after the Lok Sabha election verdict. Nadda’s poll-time claims that the BJP is big enough to not depend on the RSS during the elections had intrigued the senior functionaries in the Nagpur-based outfit.
“The RSS wants the government to bring international pressure on the Muhammed Yunus-led Interim Government in Bangladesh to protect the minorities, including the Hindus. India cannot simply watch the unfolding events in Bangladesh,” said a senior RSS functionary.
The RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosbole had also issued a statement to raise the concerns of the organisation about Bangladesh. “The safety of the minorities in Bangladesh, including the Hindus and the Buddhists, must be ensured,” Hosbole had said in his statement issued in New Delhi.

Union Minister for External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said yesterday that India will seek mutuality with Bangladesh. He spoke of disruptive changes in Bangladesh.
Jaishankar was speaking at a book launch event. Former diplomat Rajiv Sikri’s ‘Strategic Conundrums Reshaping India’s Foreign Policy’ was released by Jaishankar. While India diplomatically is maintaining a nuanced stance on violent challenges in Bangladesh, the RSS, sources said, wants New Delhi to not remain a silent observer.
On the other hand, the RSS is learnt to be allowing the BJP to repair bonds with the organisation. Having burnt fingers with ‘flawed election’ campaigns in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP, sources said, is keen to get back better equations with the RSS.

Nadda as the chief of the BJP is attending the RSS meeting in Palakkad. The RSS is also likely to play an instrumental role in finding the replacement of Nadda in the BJP.
The appointment of Ram Madhav as the election in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election had dropped hints of the RSS asserting its weight in the affairs of the BJP. The RSS is also learnt to be taking a keen interest for the upcoming byelections in Uttar Pradesh.
The meeting of the RSS is taking place at Palakkad where the BJP had bagged 24 per cent vote share in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections. The RSS is keen to assert its ideological weight in the Kerala politics.

The CPI (M) had polled about 33 per cent vote share against 24 per cent of the BJP. The RSS also plays victim card by spotlighting political violence in Kerala.
