New Delhi, August 30: The US Vice President and Democratic nominee for the presidential election, Kamala Harris, in her first major interview has spoken of an ‘all-America’ agenda. Harris said that the economy will be her top concern.
The US vice president came out assertive in her interview with CNN. Unlike blundering Joe Biden, who after his first interview had to bow out of the presidential race, Harris gave a cogent account of her world views.
AFP in a newsbreak said that Harris came out as a centrist after the interview. The CNN said that Harris has no alternative plans for the Middle east.

Taking on polarising rival and former US president, Donald Trump, Harris struck a tough stance on illegal immigrants. She acknowledged the issue of illegal immigrants in the interview.
Trump’s mainstay poll plank has for years been his hardline on illegal immigrants. As president of the US, Trump had sought to build a wall around the border with Mexico.
“In first major interview since her entry into the presidential race, Kamala Harris, stakes out centrist position,” the AFP said on Harris interview with the CNN. She gave interview to Dana Bash of CNN.
Harris told Bash that she gained new perspectives on the issue of illegal immigration while being the vice president of the US. Harris said that she was working in kitchen when Biden rang her to inform that he was withdrawing from the presidential race.

Harris refused to be drawn into ‘racist’ debate with Trump. She refused to comment on Trump saying that “Harris is sometimes Black”.
The US vice president asserted that she wouldn’t abandon her liberal values. Her detractors attack by calling her a communist.
“I will accord top priority to the middle class,” Harris told CNN. She said that her focus will be on the economy.
The US economy is in the midst of a high-interest rate regime. A few days back, the US economy was wobbling with fears of recession.
The US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell has recently said that “time has come to cut rates”. Harris expressed her willingness to work with all.

Harris said that she would even be open to the idea of inducting a Republican in her Cabinet. Harris had recently cancelled her scheduled debate with Trump.
The first major interview of Harris has come at a time when she has begun leading over Trump in poll surveys. Trump is lately also admitting that he now has a rival to beat.
Harris gave the interview along with her running mate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. “The interview provided one of the clearest looks into Harris’ positions and her plans for the presidency,” CNN said in a post-interview report.
Harris assured to continue with support to the climate change mitigation efforts. “You mentioned the Green New Deal. I have always believed – and I have worked on it – that the climate crisis is real, that it is an urgent matter to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time,” CNN quoted Harris saying during the interview.
Trump as president of the US had walked out of the Paris Accord. Biden had sought to assert the US leadership in the climate change mitigation efforts.
