After Sunita Kejriwal, Kalpana Soren to give unity mantra to Opposition

New Delhi, April 7: After the Ramlila Ground joint rally, the Opposition is bracing for show of strength in the Lok Sabha elections in Ranchi. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will host the Opposition parties for the joint rally on April 21.

Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, has taken the full command of the JMMP. She is holding meetings with the party workers. Champai Soren, the incumbent Jharkhand Chief Minister, is giving strong support to Kalpana Soren, according to the JMM leaders. She is seeking to replicate the Sunita Kejriwal model in Jharkhand.

After the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, is holding the flock of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders together. Kalpana Soren had called on Sunita Kejriwal on the eve of the Ramlila Ground rally.

Kalpana Soren as per the JMM leaders is telling the party leaders that Jharkhand can emerge as the most united Opposition state in the country. The JMM is leading the Opposition block in Jharkhand.

Kalpana Soren is also likely to contest the Lok Sabha elections. She is counting on the groundswell of support for the JMM in the aftermath of the arrest of Hemant Soren. She particularly is hoping that the tribal vote base will be intact and support the Opposition candidates.

The JMM leaders are drawing confidence from the fact that the party-led government in the state survived the arrest of Hemant Soren. They are also hopeful that the dissension in the ranks of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will help the Opposition candidates.

Jharkhand is among a few states where the Opposition has been successful in forcing one-on-one contests against the BJP. The Opposition unity has struck seat adjustment deals in states such as Jharkhand, Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

The BJP is as per ground reports facing squabbling in ranks in a number of Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand. The BJP has challenges on its hands in seats such as Dhanabd, Hazaribagh, Dumka, and others.

Kalpana Soren is hogging the media limelight in the state since the arrest of her husband. She was first speculated to contest an Assembly byelection from Gandey Assembly seat. But the JMM leaders now claim that she would be contesting the Lok Sabha elections with aims to polarise the tribal vote base on the issue of the arrest of her husband.
