Ranchi, December 4, 2025 —Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda is set to begin a two-day visit to Jharkhand, a tour that has assumed major political significance amid swirling speculation that the structure of the state government could soon change.
Nadda will arrive at Deoghar airport late Friday evening and is scheduled to be welcomed by senior leaders and party workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party. At 9 pm, he will hold a crucial meeting with the BJP Jharkhand core committee at the state guest house before staying overnight.
On Saturday, the BJP chief will offer prayers at the Baba Baidyanath Dham temple and at 10 am inaugurate the newly constructed district BJP office in Deoghar. He will then address party workers and later speak at the BJP Jharkhand state workers’ conference. In the evening, Nadda, who is also the Union Health Minister, will chair a review meeting on development works at AIIMS Deoghar.
Political Churn and Alliance Speculation
Nadda’s visit comes amid sustained reports of major political churning in Jharkhand, where the state is currently governed by the INDIA bloc led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Tensions within the ruling alliance are said to have intensified after disagreements during seat-sharing in the Bihar elections, with speculation that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) may reassess its alliance.
Sources suggest that if the political equations change, Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) quota ministers could be dropped from the cabinet. The speculation has further deepened amid claims that the Chief Minister had symbolically sought a seat in Bihar but was ignored by alliance partners, triggering dissatisfaction within the JMM leadership.
It is also being speculated that Hemant Soren may now seek to normalise relations with the Centre to accelerate development projects and improve the state’s economic growth trajectory.
Congress Rejects “Malicious Rumours”
Even as speculation intensifies, Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal strongly rejected the rumours of a possible split in the Jharkhand alliance after speaking to Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
“Let there be no doubts — our INDIA alliance in Jharkhand is rock-solid, cohesive, and fully committed to advancing people-centric welfare policies that reflect the aspirations of every citizen of Jharkhand,” Venugopal said in a statement.
He blamed what he called a “malicious narrative and coordinated rumour-mongering” on right-wing troll networks, calling it a sign of “growing desperation and political insecurity.”
“We are not affected by such cheap trolling and they can never dilute the trust that the people have placed in us. Our unity is intact, our purpose is clear, and our alliance remains stronger than ever,” Venugopal asserted.
High Stakes Visit
Against this backdrop of alliance friction rumours and firm political counterclaims, JP Nadda’s Jharkhand visit is being viewed as strategically crucial for the BJP’s future plans in the state. While no official confirmation of any realignment has emerged so far, the political temperature remains high.
