Srinagar, April 25, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday held a high-level security review meeting with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, and other senior military officials in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.

The meeting, held in Srinagar, focused on strengthening security mechanisms and neutralizing the terror network responsible for the brutal incident.

Condemning the attack in the strongest terms, Sinha declared that every perpetrator and supporter, regardless of location or affiliation, must be hunted down and made to pay a heavy price for what he termed a “cowardly and dastardly act against our citizens”.

Reiterating the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir, the LG directed the Army to intensify operations to dismantle the terror infrastructure and its enablers. “The nation has full faith in the bravery and valour of our army, police, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs),” Sinha said.

He said that “all agencies must work in close synergy to identify the perpetrators, enablers, and overground workers (OGWs) involved in the Pahalgam attack and pursue the entire chain in a sustained and coordinated manner”.

The meeting also discussed both short-term and long-term security strategies, inter-agency coordination, and enhanced intelligence sharing to pre-empt such attacks in the future.

Present at the meeting were Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Pratik Sharma and GoC 15 Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, along with other senior officers.

Pahalgam Attack Amid Three Mistakes of General Asim Munir

The Pahalgam terror attack, which occurred earlier this week, targeted a group of civilians and resulted in the loss of innocent lives, drawing widespread condemnation. Initial investigations point to the involvement of Pakistan-backed terrorist groups seeking to disrupt peace and normalcy in the Kashmir Valley.

The attack is being seen as an attempt to revive fear in the region ahead of the upcoming tourist season and democratic activities. Security forces have since launched a massive operation to track down those responsible.

Meanwhile, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has urged other states to safeguard Kashmiri students from any incident of harassment. He also released the contact details of officials of the J&K House in New Delhi for the Kashmiri students to connect with in event of hardships.
