JAMMU, June 28, 2025 – Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti conducted a comprehensive review of final arrangements for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025 at key locations, including Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas and Jammu Railway Station.
The J&K administration affirmed a seamless experience for pilgrims embarking on the annual pilgrimage starting July 2, 2025. During their visit to Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar, the base camp for pilgrims, Kumar and Tuti inspected critical facilities, including air-conditioned halls, washrooms, cloakrooms, RO water points, and langar halls, all prepared to accommodate devotees.
“They also reviewed parking areas for buses and a German hangar equipped with air coolers and fans for pilgrim comfort. A subsequent meeting with heads of departments and security officials focused on finalizing logistics, with assurances of adequate power and water supply, backed by sufficient reserves, to ensure a comfortable stay,” said the office of the J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha in a media statement.
The Health Department has stocked essential medicines and finalized duty rosters for medical personnel, while flood response mechanisms, illumination, CCTV coverage, and security deployments have been confirmed operational, it added. Kumar directed telecom agencies to ensure ample prepaid mobile SIMs for pilgrims and instructed departments to stock the Super Bazaar inside Yatri Niwas with all necessary items.
Additional RFID and Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) counters were ordered near the hangar to streamline pilgrim registration and travel. A 24×7 control room at Yatri Niwas, staffed by representatives from all relevant departments, was also assessed to ensure coordinated support. At Jammu Railway Station, the duo inspected Saraswati Dham, designated as the token center for offline Yatri registration, and reviewed RFID centers at Vaishnavi Dham, Panchayat Bhawan, and the railway station itself.
“All departments were instructed to implement comprehensive measures to facilitate pilgrims, emphasizing safety, accessibility, and efficiency,” said the media statement. The Shri Amarnathji Yatra, a revered Hindu pilgrimage to the 3,880-meter-high cave shrine in south Kashmir, draws thousands annually to pay homage to the holy ice Lingam of Lord Shiva. Scheduled from July 3 to August 9, 2025, the 38-day pilgrimage begins with the first batch of pilgrims flagged off from Jammu on July 2. Pilgrims travel via the 48-km Pahalgam route or the shorter 14-km Baltal route. The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), chaired by the Lieutenant Governor, oversees arrangements, including mandatory registration, RFID tracking, and health certifications.
Over 141 lodgment centers, 52 langars, and 60 RFID counters have been established across Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, and Ramban districts, with online registration via e-KYC already underway and offline registration starting July 1. The administration has prioritized robust security, with multi-layered arrangements by the Army, CAPFs, and Jammu & Kashmir Police, urging pilgrims to travel in official convoys for safety.
