Ranchi, April 29, 2025: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has concluded his nine-day official tour of Spain and Sweden, bagging assurances of investments in the state. Soren is likely to return to Sweden again in June to take part in another business event to attract investment for Jharkhand.

Indian embassies in Spain and Sweden tied up with potential investors during Soren’s visit to the two nations. The Chief Minister’s Office in a statement said that investments in areas of EV mobility, clean technology, sports collaborations, manufacturing, etc., have been discussed.

Soren’s none-day visit to two European nations was aimed at attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and establishing international collaborations in sectors such as mining, green energy, sports, and infrastructure.

Soren held multiple meetings with global investors at Gothenburg, Sweden. He spotlighted Jharkhand’s immense potential in manufacturing, mining, clean energy, urban development, and other areas.

“Over 50 industry leaders joined the event hosted by the Embassy of India,” said the Chief Minister’s Office in a media statement.

The Indian embassy in Sweden said in a post on X that “Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, met with members of the Indian diaspora at the Embassy. The vibrant Indian community warmly welcomed the CM and engaged in meaningful discussions on enhancing India-Sweden collaboration in business, trade, and cultural exchange.”

Soren held strategic discussions with global technology leaders and visited prominent stalls, including Lignum Tech (experts in modular and prefabricated construction), Soprema Group (leaders in sustainable building materials and insulation solutions), and Cite Sal (specialists in smart city and urban infrastructure technologies).

“His visit reflects a strong commitment to integrating global best practices into future development initiatives,” added the Jharkhand CM office in a statement.

Soren along with the 11-member high-level delegation visited the Volvo Truck plant at Gothenburg and interacted with the officials at the plant. “The delegation also visited the Volvo Truck Experience Centre where the firm displays its latest innovations in electric mobility, passenger and road safety, and other products such as mirror-less camera enabled truck cab, 3-point suspension for trucks, etc.,” said the CM office in a post on X.

Soren appreciated the cutting-edge R&D being carried out at the Volvo plant and enquired of the durability and ruggedness of the 440 KW motors that run the electric trucks of Volvo.

The Jharkhand Chief Minister also had a one-to-one discussion with representative of Novargi – an established name in the clean energy industry.

Soren’s key engagements and outcomes included a proposal from Tesla Group to establish a gigafactory in Jharkhand focused on assembling commercial and industrial battery storage products. He was also assured of setting up of a trade and exhibition infrastructure in Jharkhand. Soren-led delegation engaged with Fira de Barcelona, leading to a Letter of Intent expressing interest in developing a mega convention and trade exhibition center in Ranchi. In Spain, Soren discussed sports collaboration in his meeting with FC Barcelona’s Vice President, Elena Fort.

They discussed potential partnerships in sports development, including training programmes for coaches from Jharkhand. The delegation visited the Gavà Museum of Mines to learn about ancient mining techniques and explored the iconic Sagrada Família to understand its architectural significance.
