New Delhi, October 9: Even while the US strategic interests now seem to be compromised in the Indo-Pacific, Washington has sent out a loud message that it means business when it comes to fulfil commitment to defend Israel. After ordering moving of the naval assets to the Mediterranean, US President Joe Biden has said that the relations with Israel will never change.

“Tonight, America says clearly to the Israeli people, to the world, and to terrorists everywhere that we stand with Israel. That will never change,” said Biden in a post on X after days of hectic backchannels undertaken by the US to ward off attempts of the Hamas friendly nations to fish in the troubled waters.

With the US security architecture – Abraham Accords unveiled under the watch of former President Donald Trump and I2U2, which is the initiative of Biden – in the Middle East threatened by the Hamas attack which has left over 1200 people dead, thousands injured, and dozens in hostage situations, Washington has been busy dialing key stakeholders to douse the fame in quick speed.

Even while the Israeli newspapers have roasted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for squandering Tel Aviv’s assets in the Arab World, including Palestinian areas, with his pursuit of ultra-right politics, the western allies of Israel seem dropping anchor to let the military go after the Hamas for revenge. But the ground action, as spotlighted by the commentators, is fraught with too many challenges in the Gaza strip, controlled by Hamas, which is densely population, and the likelihood of collateral damages in the loss of life of the civilians could jeopardize sympathy for Israel.

Yet, Tel Aviv appears counting on the assessment within the Arab world that backing outfits such as Hamas could jeopardize their own regimes and they will have to sit on the sidelines as Israel deals with its right to defend against terror attack. Israeli leadership is stressing that the Saturday Hamas attack was the 9/11 and Pearl Harbour attack rolled into one. The Israel Defence Force has also gone in a communication offensive by releasing footages and videos of the brutalities committed by the Hamas during its attack.

Incidentally, China is hugely invested in its relations with Israel, which also clips the prospects of Russia meddling in the affairs of Gaza strip. Additionally, Chinese President Xi Jinping warmly received the bipartisan US Congressmen, while remarking that the “way the US and China deal with their bilateral relations will shape the destiny of humanity”. Xi also said that there are thousands of reasons to be friends, and none to drift away.
