New Delhi, October 14: Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has claimed that it has eliminated two top ranking Hamas commanders who were behind the Saturday’s savage attacks. Israel security agencies aim to hunt down Mohammed Deif, who is known to be the brain behind the Saturday attack while eluded several attempts of the Israeli intelligence in the past.

“Ali Qadi led the inhumane, barbaric October 7 massacre of civilians in Israel. We just eliminated him. All Hamas terrorists will meet the same fate,” the IDF said in a post on X, formerly twitter.

The IDF Gaza Division Commander BG Avi Rosenfeld told his personnel on Saturday that “those who fell in this despicable surprise attack. We bow our heads, but not to the ground. Our heads are up, we are proud of our country, we will defend it and we will do everything to protect it.”

Israeli security force also stated that the military killed Merad Abu Merad, who was the head of the Hamas aerial system. Qadi was a company commander of a commando force, added IDF. Israel is hunting for Deif, who is said to have lost one leg and one eye in an attack in the past in which his children and wife had been killed. He said to have scripted the attacks on Israel, while being secretive in his operation.

The IDF in another post stated that as of now 120 civilians are held captive by the Hamas in Gaza. Israel has asked the civilians in northern parts of Gaza to move in the southern direction. Close to 1.1 million people in Gaza have been warned by Israel that they should vacate the northern region, as Tel Aviv seeks to eliminate Hamas. It may be recalled that Israel has attempted at least four times in the past to eliminate Hamas without success.

The IDF is using drones to spot the Hamas leadership and ground forces before eliminating them. Ground reports have shown that a large number of Palestinians are leaving northern Gaza while heeding the warning of Israel even while Hamas has asked the people to stay put besides vowing to fight to the last blood.
