Trump Speaks of USAID Like Action for Other Agencies

Washington, February 9: U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday came out in firm support of his tech billionaire aide Elon Musk. Trump mocked at the Time magazine, which put Musk image while sitting on the Resolute Desk on the cover.
The magazine sought to convey the message that Musk is the real boss in the Trump administration. “Is Time magazine still in business? I didn’t even know that,” Trump snapped back at a reporter.
Trump was asked for a “reaction to the new Time magazine cover that has Elon Musk sitting behind your Resolute desk?”
“Elon is doing a great job. He’s finding tremendous fraud and corruption and waste,” said Trump.
The U.S. President cited the example of USAID, which has shut down funding aid programmes across the world. “You’re going to see it even more so with other agencies and other parts of government,” added Trump.
He lauded Musk for his team of the staff. “He’s got a staff that’s fantastic,” said Trump.
The U.S. President gave an account of the unravelling of the details of the works done by the USAID across the world. “He’s wanted to be able to do this for a long time and everybody else knew it was existent. But I think never so much. When you look at USAID, that’s a fraud. The whole thing is a fraud,” added Trump.
He expressed dismay at the findings of the operations of the USAID. “Very little, very little being put to good use. Every single line that I look at in terms of events and transactions is either corrupt or ridiculous,” added Trump.
The U.S. President vowed to expand the USAID like purge in several other departments. “And we’re going to be doing that throughout government. And I think we’re going to be very close to balancing budgets for the first time in many years,” said Trump.
The U.S. President also said that he was hopeful of a revenue boost from tariffs that he imposed. The U.S. has imposed tariff on Chinese imports. Twenty-five per cent tariff has also been imposed on steel and aluminium.
“I think we’re going to be very close to, in addition to monies coming in from tariffs, etc,” added Trump while endorsing Trump for “doing a very good job. I’m very happy with it.”
