New Delhi, September 27: Lebanese media reports stated that Israeli bombers flattened the Hezbollah headquarters in southern parts of Lebanon. Conflicting reports are being shared on whereabouts of the Hezbollah chief, Hassan Nasrallah.
Ben Caspit, a well-known Israeli journalist, claimed in a post on X that “Nasrallah is dead”. Caspit added that “Nasrallah is dead along with Hezbollah’s leadership”.
But Babak Taghvee, which reports on the region, claimed that Iran is rushing a special medical rescue mission to evacuate Nasrallah. “Unconfirmed reports about Hezbollah’s attempt for sending severely injured Hassan Nasrallah to Iran following the Israeli airstrike at his hideout in Dahiya,” Taghvee said in a post on X.

It also stated that the Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) operated Mahan Air has received an order to send a BAe-146-200 to Beirut for medical evacuation.
But local media outlets claimed that Nasrallah is alive. “Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah is alive,” media outlets quoted Reuters newsbreak. The news agency quoted a source close to the Hezbollah.
Israel carried out airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs. The Hezbollah headquarters is located in the suburbs.
Al Arabiya News Editor Wissam Keyrouz said in a television discussions that “Nasrallah was targeted in the latest Israeli airstrike in Lebanon”. He added that the Israeli airstrikes destroyed multiple buildings. He expressed concerns over the casualty.

“The strike killed Nasrallah’s deputy, which means it did likely hit Hezbollah HQ. Initial reporting suggests Nasrallah survived,” Gregory Brew stated in a post on X. Brew comments on Middle East affairs.
Senior Hezbollah official Hashim Safi al-Din has reportedly been killed in the Beirut strikes by Israel. A video released by Al Jazeera showed the aftermath of successive Israeli air attacks on the southern Dahiyeh suburbs of Beirut.
Israel has said that it targeted Hezbollah’s central headquarters, added Al Jazeera. “While attention fixates on the fate of Nasrallah, bear in mind that flattening 6+ high-rise apartment buildings, without prior notice/evacuation, means 100s of casualties,” commented Charles Lister, a Syria-based commentator on the region.

The US has said that Washington was unaware of the special operation of Israel on Friday. “The US was not involved and had no advanced warning in Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburb,” said Sabrina Singh, spokesperson for Pentagon.
The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is rushing back to Tel Aviv. He cut short his US visit to return immediately.
Mosab Abu Toha, a journalist from the region, claimed that Nasrallah was not at the Hezbollah HQ when the buildings were bombed. “Six big residential buildings were knocked down by 2000 lb bombs. The fire is still on. Nothing is recognizable,” he added.
