Iranian capability to inflict damages in regions under US protection may dent American hegemony

New Delhi, March 2, 2026 — The ongoing military conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran has reached a decisive turning point, with consequences that could fundamentally redraw the global power structure, according to geopolitics analyst Manish Anand of The Raisina Hills.
“When this war ends — whether in days, weeks, or months — the world order will not be what it was before,” Anand said in a recent episode of his channel.
Arab World’s Faith in US Security Shaken
Anand highlighted that Gulf nations including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain — long sheltered under America’s security umbrella — are now openly questioning Washington’s reliability as a defence partner. “The defence architecture these countries depended on America to provide has proven far weaker than advertised,” he said, noting that Iran successfully struck Saudi Aramco’s major oil infrastructure via drone attack.
“Some Saudi commentators are saying America has abandoned them to protect Israel,” Anand added.
Iran’s Resilience Surprises Military Analysts
Despite the elimination of Iran’s top political and military leadership, Anand noted that Tehran’s retaliatory capacity has not diminished. “Iran had been preparing for this moment for decades. Leadership transition happened without losing a single moment, and new battlefield commanders are already in position,” he said.
Iran’s drone and missile strikes have reportedly targeted American military bases across the Arabian Peninsula, with Anand pointing out that Iranian intelligence demonstrated precise knowledge of US troop locations, hotel accommodations, and air defence positions across the region.
The China Factor
Anand raised pointed questions about Beijing’s possible role, drawing a parallel to China’s alleged behind-the-scenes support for Pakistan during the recent India-Pakistan military confrontation. “Is China standing behind Iran, sharing real-time intelligence?” he asked. “If so, when this war ends and a new world order emerges, China could rise as a dominant global power — successfully breaking America’s stranglehold on the international system.”
Trump Administration Under Political Pressure
With US casualties mounting — acknowledged by President Donald Trump himself in a video message — Anand warned of serious domestic political fallout. “Come election season, Trump and the Republican Party will face hard questions about why American soldiers’ lives were put at risk, and for what objective,” he said.
America’s Image: Dented and Damaged
Anand concluded that the most significant casualty of this conflict may be American credibility itself. “The image of American military power as invincible — that no one could challenge it — has now been conclusively disproven,” he said. “Iran has damaged that image with remarkable capability, and the long-term consequences of that will be far-reaching.”
