New Delhi, March 25: The newly-appointed president of the Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Virendra Sachdeva has said that his party will show charisma in the next Assembly elections. He listed out his vision for the party in an exclusive conversation with The Raisina Hills, which included launching aggressive campaign against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the city.
Sachdeva said that next one year for the youth of the party workers in the city is to pour full energy to win all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi in the 2024 general elections. “I will want all the youth workers of the party to dedicate their full energy for the next one year to ensure that the BJP wins all the seven Lok Sabha seats in 2025. We will give all seven seats to PM Modi,” said Sachdeva.
He also dispelled the contention that the Delhi unit of the BJP is faction-ridden. “We will work collectively. There are bound to be differences even within a family. The idea is that there can be differences in views but now hearts,” added Sachdeva.
The Delhi BJP chief also stated that the party will be seeking the support of all sections in the national capital, and seek to support of all the people in the city. Sachdeva also hit out at the ruling AAP government for not completing the key infrastructure projects in the national capital. “The AAP government is doing the politics of advertisement. They spent Rs 525 crore on advertisement on parali, while the cost of medicine is just Rs 2 lakh,” stated Sachdeva.
On the Delhi unit of the BJP not able to put up fight against the AAP, Sachdeva said that the party will dispel the notion in the Lok Sabha elections. “We will also show the charisma in the Assembly elections,” asserted Sachdeva.
He also stated that the BJP under his leadership will expose the scams committed by the AAP government. Sachdeva accused the AAP government of taking the Delhi Jal Board, which had been in profit of Rs 6000 crore during the tenure of the former chief minister Sheila Dikshit, is now into a heavy debt of Rs 26,000 crore. Sachdeva asserted that the BJP in Delhi would stay on an aggressive path. “Even while I speak to you, the BJP workers are protesting against the AAP government on the street,” said Sachdeva. He stated that there is no government in the country whose two ministers have gone to jail.
He drew confidence from the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) elections. “Our vote base in the MCD elections crossed 40 per cent, which used to be 33-34 per cent, while there was a decline of 10 per cent of votes for our opponents. We lost the MCD elections, but we won the hearts of the people,” added Sachdeva.
