Internet smashes Xi Jinping’s smokescreen of zero Covid deaths

New Delhi, December 24: The Chinese social media appears to have broken through the iron casket of Xi Jinping’s information opaqueness. On a day when China claimed to have recorded zero Covid death and only a few thousand infections, the Chinese social media bared the truth that the country was getting over 35 million new cases a day. The videos of the dead lying wrapped in plastic bags at hospitals and morgues exposed the double-speak of the Chinese Communist regime.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has not made any public appearance since the world was told by the Chinese social media of the Covid-19 tsunami in China. The people in China are making videos of the collapse of the health infrastructure and the purported several kms long of queues of the vehicles carrying bodies for cremation. Such videos have found the ways to the international audience, ducking the Chinse sensors, which may suggest that the grip of Xi is loosening. A leaked documents doing the rounds of the social media in China, which were reported by the international news agencies, stated that China had over 250 million Covid-19 infections in the first 20 days of this month.
Circumstantially, the period coincides with the outbreak of the protests in China against the Xi regime. Students, labours and farmers had led spontaneous protests against the Xi regime, with the anger largely directed the ‘Zero Covid Policy’. “Overflowing hospital morgues – fever medicine shortage, oxygen tanks empty …death tolls soaring among the elderly …lots of body bags,” tweeted Eric Feigl-Ding, an epidemiologist, while a tagging a video of a morgue full of bodies.
But the Xi regime is still keeping the world in the dark about the extent of the pandemic in China. “WE continue to call on China to share the data and conduct the studies that we have requested,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) reiterated this week.
China despite being a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is acting dishonest by blocking international scrutiny of the pandemic outbreak which is now its fourth year. By not providing the accurate date, China once more, noted the health experts, is risking the health and wellbeing of several millions of the people worldwide, besides pushing own citizens as sitting ducks to the savagery of the pandemic.
The US-based manufacturers have begun shutting down their units in China, as they face acute labour shortage, with the workers not reporting for works. There are also reports that the people in China are attempting to sneak into neighbouring countries such as Myanmar to escape the Chinese pandemic.
