India Offers Lessons in Democracy to Pakistani Army Amid Escalating Conflcits

By TRH News Desk

NEW DELHI, May 10, 2025 – India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Saturday dismissed Pakistan’s claims that Indian missiles struck Afghanistan, accusing Islamabad of fabricating narratives to deflect from its own regional aggression. Misri also criticized Pakistan’s military leadership for its lack of democratic principles, amid escalating tensions between the two nations.

Addressing Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Misri refuted allegations of Indian missile strikes in Afghanistan, stating, “The people of Afghanistan know well who their enemy is. Over the past 18 months, Pakistan’s actions have caused suffering in Afghanistan.”

He was apparently referring to Pakistan’s airstrikes in Afghanistan, which killed civilians, and ongoing border disputes with Kabul over the Durand Line, which the Taliban refuses to recognize.

Misri also condemned Pakistan’s attempts to sow discord in India, citing Indian Army reports of Pakistani drone attacks targeting temples and Gurudwaras in Jammu and Kashmir. “Pakistan’s army seeks to create communal division in India through deliberate attacks on religious sites,” he said, calling such tactics a hallmark of Pakistan’s “cognitive warfare.”

Commenting on Pakistan’s political landscape, Misri contrasted India’s open democracy with Pakistan’s military-dominated governance. “Pakistan’s spokesperson seems amused that Indian citizens criticize their government—a hallmark of a functioning democracy unfamiliar to Pakistan,” Misri said.

Public demands in Pakistan are rising for the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who remains imprisoned following his ouster and the dismantling of his party, PTI, after a military-led probe into alleged insurrection.

Geopolitical analysts have long described Pakistan’s military as controlling the country’s political and economic spheres, with a history of coups ousting civilian leaders.

Meanwhile, Pakistan faces internal challenges from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has intensified attacks in Khyber province, further straining Islamabad’s relations with Afghanistan’s Taliban government, which Pakistan accuses of supporting the TTP.

In contrast, India has strengthened ties with Afghanistan, providing humanitarian aid, including wheat shipments, in recent years. Misri’s remarks underscore India’s stance that Pakistan’s provocative actions, both domestically and regionally, undermine stability, while its false claims about Indian aggression lack credibility.
