New Delhi, October 4: As India is moving towards fastest rollout of 5G and advancing towards transition to 6G technology, the government is in the process of getting almost 127 Global patterns, along with that setting up of 100 5G case labs.

Besides this, the government is also expanding towards production of telecom equipment to widen its product base in the telecom industry that has been largely surviving on imports of telecom gears.
According to sources at Department of Telecommunications (DOT), the production of Telecom has been a huge success, with close to Rs 3400 crore, worth of investment, Rs 50,000 crore worth of sales and around Rs 10500 crore worth of exports. This will add to creating almost 17, 800 new jobs across India.
This would also contribute to the idea of Atmnirbhar Bharat. As of today, the negative trade balance of telecom equipment has been narrowed down to Rs 4000 crore from 2014’s, Rs 88,000 crore.
Additionally, DOT is also making a performance management unit (PMU), which will set up a daily target for the launch of 4G services by State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL).
State owned Tejas, BSNL, TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) and C-DOT (Centre For Development Of Telematics) is part of PMU. The PMU will have a daily target, which will be monitored by the Unio Telecom minister and the DOT Secretary, according to ministry sources.
BNSL has gained 2.9 million mobile phone customers in July, after private telecom operators such as Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea raised tariffs in August this year
