India Mobile Congress 2024 Bags Double Startup Participation

New Delhi, October 9: At least 900 start-ups will showcase innovations at India Mobile Congress 2024, while last year’s event saw over 400 startups participants. The event begins from October 15 to 18 at Pragati Maidan here in New Delhi which is being jointly hosted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).

The second edition of the start-up initiative is aimed at promoting and showcasing innovations across technology sectors.  The second edition of the start-up initiative Last year’s event saw over 400 startups participate.

The latest Nasscom report said ~60 percent of start-up founders report an increase in revenue and profitability in 2023. Over 100 Generative AI start-ups are now active in India building horizontal and vertical applications.

Aspire will focus on various innovative technologies, including 5G, AI, Deep Tech, Electronics, Green Tech, Industry 4.0, Semiconductors, Smart Mobility, Sustainability, and Telecommunications equipment. Over 400 startups will particularly showcase advancements in AI and Deep Tech. Key event features include fireside chats with successful founders, keynotes, and panel discussions on topics relevant to entrepreneurship.

Among the highlights of the program are a 5G & 6G Hackathon, the STPI LEAP AHEAD initiative, investor speed dating, and networking opportunities. More than 200 investors and over 40-50 mentors are expected to engage with startup founders in one-on-one meetings. The event will also feature reverse pitching, where investors introduce themselves to founders, helping them identify the right partners for their ventures.

IMC CEO Ramakrishna P highlighted the importance of the Indian startup ecosystem, which now consists of over 128,000 startups, making India the third-largest startup economy globally. IMC 2024 aims to provide valuable market access and foster collaboration between startups, academia, and the government to further drive innovation and economic growth.

Notable investors attending include Trifecta Capital, YourNest Venture Capital, Titan Capital, and Merak Ventures, among others.

IMC aims to enable more than 500 one-to-one meetings with around 200 investors lined up. The event is set to feature dedicated networking opportunities, including 1:1 Investor and Industry Mentor Networking zones with over 40-50 mentors, where startup founders can engage in personalized conversations and seek expert feedback from experienced mentors in their sectors.

Additionally, five Master Class sessions are also being organized around topics like AI, cloud, security among others and live pitch sessions with over 21 startups, which will help provide a platform for high-potential startups to present their ideas to investors.

Along with these, reverse pitching will allow investors, incubators, and accelerators to introduce themselves, helping founders select the best fit for their venture. The 1st edition of the Aspire program was a major success, where three startups named Nayan Tech, ParkMate and Wisedrive were selected further for funding investments, out of the six pitches conducted.
