Iran’s Khamenei vows to win ‘resistance against Israel’

By Raisina Correspondent

New Delhi, October 4: Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei on Friday said that the “fight of the Hezbollah against Israel is vital for the Islamic world”. Khamenei vowed that the “resistance in the region against Israel will not back down”.

Khamenei in a rare appearance in Iran addressed a Friday prayer with a rifle alongside. He said that the Iran’s missile attacks on Israel was a minimal punishment.

“The enemy of the Iranian nation is the same as the enemy of the nations of Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, and Palestine. The enemy is one,” said Khamenei.

The supreme leader of Iran who is also the commander-in-chief of the Iranian army addressed the Friday prayer in the aftermath of the killings of the top leadership of the Hezbollah and the Hamas. Hassan Nasrallah was killed by an Israeli airstrike last week.

Afterwards, Iran had rained missiles on Isreal with some of them striking Tel Avin and the neighbourhood. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to “punish Iran” for attacking Israel.

“Hezbollah and the martyred Sayyid Nasrallah have taken steps in defence of Gaza and jihad for Al-Aqsa Mosque, delivering a blow to the usurping, cruel Zionist regime. They have provided a vital service to the entire region and the entire Muslim world,’ said Khamenei in his address.

The address of the supreme leader of Iran was watched closely in the world for possible clues on emerging geostrategic tension in the Middle East. Khamenei sent out a message of defiance against the Israeli threats.

“Iran will not procrastinate or rush to carry out its duty in confronting Israel. The ballistic missile attack was a minimum punishment for Israeli crimes,” added Khamenei.

The Iranian religious head endorsed the Hamas in its war against Israel. “The Palestinians are defending their homeland. Such defence is legitimate and lawful,” added Khamenei.

The last year’s October 7 attacks by the Hamas against Israel had invited the Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. The Palestinian health officials claim that more than 41000 civilians in Palestine have been killed since Isreal launched attacks in Gaza.

Israel has also been carrying out airstrikes in South Lebanon besides carrying out “limited ground incursions”. Israel has justified airstrikes in Gaza and South Lebanon as its efforts to safeguards its border regions which had been targets of attacks by the Hamas and the Hezbollah.
