New Delhi, November 7: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday questioned the motive of the alleged firing by the security forces in Simdega. Soren alleged that attempts are being made to scare the people to stay away from voting.
“What is the reason that the force sent by the Election Commission opened fire in the dark of night in Simdega,” asked Soren while addressing an election rally on Thursday. He asked, do these people want to scare the people of Jharkhand.
“Do these people want to stop people from voting by creating terror? The police force that the Election Commission has called from different states to conduct the elections, has come here in a very strange manner,” alleged Soren.

The Jharkhand chief minister claimed that “the day before yesterday, the police who have to conduct the elections in Simdega, come out of their camp in the dark of the night and fired bullets”. “They create an atmosphere of terror so that we tribal people do not come out to vote out of fear of their guns. On the other hand, CBI is doing it in the entire state,” alleged Soren.
The Jharkhand chief minister also claimed that he was not allowed to complete the full five years term. “Although our term is of five years, I don’t know what the Election Commission understood that it conducted our elections one and a half months earlier. They rang the election bell in this secret. This had never happened after the state was separated,” claimed Soren.
The chief minister also claimed that “elections were never held before time in the double engine government and the BJP government”. “It is definitely true that the Election Commission has the right to conduct elections in any state six months earlier, but the right is not with anyone. It does not mean that it can do it whenever it wants,” added Soren.

Soren also accused that the “Election Commission has become puppets of the Government of India, which is of the Bharatiya Janata Party”. “Khunti, Simdega, Gumla are witnesses that before 2019, in the double engine government, people died here by running around with ration cards in their hands. We went to the houses of many people and at that time we resolved that now the double engine will have to be removed from this state otherwise the tribal natives here will not survive,” alleged Soren.
The chief minister also took potshots at the BJP for promising to provide the gas cylinder for ₹500. “Ask the government in Assam, do you get cylinder for ₹500? In Chhattisgarh, ask if cylinder is given for ₹500. In Bihar, ask if the people get cylinder for ₹500. The BJP is just lying today,” added Soren.
