Hemant Soren Family Members Throw Challenge for Space in Jharkhand Cabinet

Ranchi, November 25: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) supremo Hemant Soren is all set to take oath for another term at the helm of the government on November 28. Hemant Soren is all set to make a fine balance of family aspirations as well as adjustment with demands of the alliance partners.
“The JMM is going to get seven cabinet berths. The Congress will get four positions in the new government. The RJD is going to get one berth,” said a top-ranking JMM leader.
As Jharkhand is spread over five divisions, the JMM will give representations to them. Mathura Mahto’s from the Kurmi vote base is the front-runner for the Cabinet berth, said informed sources.

Previously, Jagannath Mahto was part of the government while after his death his wife Baby Devi had become a minister. But she has lost the elections.
“Mathura Mahto has emerged as a very prominent face to make a place in the cabinet. Besides, senior leaders Ramdas Soren, and Deepak Barua are all set to join the government as ministers,” added the sources.
From the Kolhan and Palamu divisions, JMM’s Anant Pratap Dev is the front-runner for a ministerial berth. Santhal Pargana is the pocket borough of the JMM, and there are too many claimants for positions in the new government.
Kalpana Soren is the front-runner from the region to make an entry on the government. Hemant Soren’s younger brother Basant Soren is also in the reckoning.

The BJP’s former state vice-president is Luis Marandi from the Santhal region is also the talk of the town in Ranchi for a Cabinet berth. Senior MLA Stephen Marandi is also staking his claims in the new government.
“From the North Chota Nagpur, Hafizul Ansari is in the reckoning for a Cabinet berth. From the Congress ranks, Radha Kishore from the Palamu division is in the race to join the government. He is now a sixth term MLA,” sources said.
From Koyalanchal region, Shweta Singh or Kumar Jai Mangal alias Anup Singh’s names are in consideration per sources. From the Santhal region, Nishad Alam or Irfan Ansari could be new minister in the government. Nishad Alam has won with the biggest margin of votes in the Jharkhand Assembly elections.
Irfan Ansari is also in the buzz for possible ministerial berth. Three out of four ministers of the Congress in the last government were from the Santhal region. From the ranks of the RJD, Sanjay Prasad Singh Yadav who won from Godda, who is also the state unit president of the party, is the top choice to join the government per sources.
