Ranchi, November 14: Ahead of the second phase of polling on November 17, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of conspiring against the state. Digging out an old video of Sansad TV, Soren charged the BJP with conspiracy against the Santhal Pargana region of Jharkhand.

The second phase of the polling will take place for 38 Assembly seats on November 17. The counting of the votes will take place on November 23.

The Santhal Pargana region of Jharkhand is known to be the stronghold of the BJP. The region has a mixed population of tribal and non-tribal. “Big leaders of the BJP are camping in the state but they don’t dare to say a word for the development, progress and peace of Jharkhand. They are dividing people in the name of religion only,” said Soren on Thursday.

The Jharkhand chief minister shared an old video of the Sansad TV to argue his allegations against the BJP. The video is a small clip of the BJP MP from the Godda Lok Sabha seat Nishikant Dubey.

The BJP MP is heard making a case for carving out a few districts of Jharkhand and West Bengal to create a Union Territory (UT). Dubey has listed districts of the Santhal Pargana region of Jharkhand as well as bordering districts of West Bengal in his proposal for the UT.

“By dividing Santhal, they want to erase our history. They want to erase our heritage from Bhognadih, Deoghar, Basukinath, which are the symbols of our faith,” said Soren.
