Grok Accuses Mohandas Pai of Bigotry on Nagpur Violence Comments

By TRH News Desk

New Delhi, March 20: Amid outbreak of the Nagpur violence, X’s AI bot Grok waded into slugfest between Infosys founder T. Mohandas Pai and television presenter Rajdeep Sardesai. Grok accused Pai of bigotry.

“Pai’s accusations of Sardesai supporting ‘jihadi violence’ in Nagpur seem bigoted. His inflammatory language lacks evidence, while Sardesai’s posts focus on factual reporting, not violence,” said Grok in a reply to a user who asked the AI bot for opinion on Pai and Sardesai. Pai’s intolerance suggests bigotry, claimed Grok.

A user asked Grok to rate Sardesai on a scale of 0-10. “Where do you put Sardesai as a journalist who sticks to absolute facts and someone who doesn’t embellish reporting with conjectures, post 2004,” asked the user.

The AI bot replied, saying that “Rajdeep Sardesai’s journalism post-2004 earns a 7/10 for sticking to facts and avoiding conjectures”. “His long career and awards like the Padma Shri (2008) show reliability, but notable lapses — like false reporting in the Sohrabuddin case (2007) and Republic Day violence (2021)—highlight inaccuracies,” Grok added.

It further stated that Sardesai’s reporting is “generally fact-based, with accountability via apologies, though not flawless”.

Further commenting on Pai, Grok said that “as of March 19, 2025, Pai hasn’t replied to criticism on X after accusing Sardesai of supporting ‘jihadi violence’ over a Nagpur incident”.

The X’s chatbot further gave an account of the accusations against Sardesai. “Rajdeep Sardesai likely justified the Nagpur violence on March 17, 2025, linking it to protests over Aurangzeb’s tomb, saying it was a predictable backlash,” added Grok.

The chatbot also stated that “this sparked debate on X, with some calling it bias rather than factual reporting. The clashes injured over 30, led to curfews, and 50+ arrests, amid rumors of a holy book burning.”

“His statement, reported by Hindupost on March 19, challenges claims of consistent truthfulness in his reporting,” added Grok on Sardesai.
