Justice Debi Singh Tewatia Memorial Lauds Social Change Agents

New Delhi, October 18: The first-ever Memorial Event in honour of late Justice Debi Singh Tewatia was organized by Jaivic Bharat Mission and Rashtra Nirman Manch at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The event brought together dignitaries, family members, and supporters to celebrate the life and legacy of a man who dedicated himself to justice and social equity.

Architect and convenor Ram Kumar Atri delivered the inaugural and welcome speech, reflecting on his deep emotional ties with Justice Tewatia. He emphasized the profound impact that Justice Tewatia had on his life and the importance of his ideals in today’s world.

Prof. Varun Arya, former president of the Delhi IIT Alumni Association, spoke about Jaivic Bharat’s valuable contributions in spreading awareness of organic farming. He highlighted the necessity of sustainable practices and the role they play in ensuring the health of both the land and its people.

The daughters of Justice Debi Singh Tewatia, Madhu and Neena, were present at the event and shared their affectionate memories of their father. Their heartfelt anecdotes underscored the warmth and integrity that Justice Tewatia embodied, inspiring all in attendance.

Justice Tewatia Memorial Event Featureed a panel discussion on ‘India of Our Dreams’. The event brought together esteemed speakers and distinguished guests, celebrating the legacy of Justice Debi Singh Tewatia.

Raja Namit Varma, a descendant of the historic Todarmal family, opened the discussion by delving into the history of Todarmal and his pivotal role in establishing a revenue model for the Mughal Empire. He highlighted the importance of innovative governance and fiscal policies in shaping a nation.

Major General Anil Varma a founding member of the Association of Democratic Reforms, followed with a critical analysis of the growing inequality in the country. He emphasized the urgent need for reforms to address these disparities and ensure a more equitable society for all citizens.

The event also featured an award ceremony conducted by Shreesh Sarvagya where 11 distinguished citizens were honored with the Justice Tewatia Memorial Award for National Development This recognition celebrated individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation’s progress.

The prominent awardees were Sunita Arain, Raghu Hari Dalmia, Vandana Shiva, Jagdeep Chhokar & Major General Anil Varma of Association of Democratic Reforms. Others who were also awarded for excellence in social works included Barefoot College, Tilonia; Saarthi Trust; Prof. Shivdarshan Malik; Pardada Pardadi Educational Society; Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan; and Dr. Mallika Sarabhai.
