New Delhi, July 14: The FBI in a late-night presser confirmed that there was an assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump. The investigators nabbed a 20-year-old shooter who used his automatic rifle to aim at Trump.
Trump is reported to be recovering from the bullet injury. While addressing his supporters, he sensed a bullet bruising his ear.
Trump was seen in the video immediately taking to the floor. The security personnel surrounded him. The crowd behind remained seated in their positions, showing no signs of panic.
The Associated Press reported that the FBI has not yet found motive for the assassination bid on Trump. The alleged assassin has been identified as Thomas Mathew Crooks as per the local media reports.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the assassination attempt on Trump. “Deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. Strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracies,” Modi posted on the social media platform X, formerly twitter.
Global Press reported an eyewitness saying that he had warned the police about 2-3 minutes before the incident of a man “crawling to the roof with a rifle”.
The US President, Joe Biden, expressed relief that Trump was safe. “I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America,” added Trump in his message posted on X.
The shooting incident took place at a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The shot was fired at Trump, while he was speaking on the issue of the spikes in the illegal immigrants.

The AFP quoted the FBI saying that “the threat is not ongoing”. The AFP quoted FBI Agent Kevin Rojek, saying that “this evening we had what we are calling an assassination attempt against our former president Donald Trump”.
The commentators rushed to draw a comparison of Trump incident with the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. At a campaign event, Abe was fatally shot in 2022.
Former US President John F Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. The top-ranking world leaders who were assassinated include Indira Gandhi and her son Rajiv Gandhi (both served as prime ministers of India), Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and his daughter Benazir Bhutto (both served as prime ministers of Pakistan), and many others across the continents.
