New Delhi, December 14: All eyes are now on the political career of former chief ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan respectively. The Bharatiya Janata party president JP Nadda has told a television channel that the party will make a good use of the experiences of the two senior leaders.
The BJP by picking up new faces for chief ministerial posts in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh has shown its intent to promote young leaders. But there appears concerns among the large sections of the established leaders that they have been ignored and they are seen to be sympathetic to Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Speaking to a television channel, Nadda has said that if the party can given importance to leaders who were setting in the third and fourth rows then certainly the senior leaders who have served as chief ministers will also be taken care of. Nadda has said that the BJP will find suitable places for the likes of Chouhan and Raje.
However, it’s yet to be seen what is in store for Chouhan and Raje. The BJP in the past has made former chief ministers vice presidents of the party. The BJP can make even a dozen vice president. But the post is decorative nature. Raje is already the BJP vice president. Chouhan was previously a member of the parliamentary board of the BJP but after he had become the chief minister in 2020 he was removed from the parliamentary board of the party.
Chouahn has told reporters that he would stay in Madhya Pradesh only. There are speculations that Chouhan and Raje may be taken in the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But the Modi Cabinet doesn’t seem to have space for senior leaders of the stature of Chouhan and Raje. Modi is seen by the political observers promoting young leaders even in his council of ministers.
In this context, Chouhan and Raje may be made Governors of states. It may be recalled that former chief minister of Jharkhand Raghubar das was recently appointed Governor of Jharkhand. But it will be too early to say if Modi will make Chouhan and Raje Governors of states. The BJP will like Chouhan and Raje to campaign for the party for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
