Droupadi Murmu completes two years as President

New Delhi, July 25: President Droupadi Murmu marked the completion of two years in office with a visit to a classroom in a school on the campus of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
“As she completes the second year of her term today, President Droupadi Murmu donned the role of a teacher that she once was. In her brief yet lively interaction with Class 9 students of Dr Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya in the President’s Estate, she imparted lessons on nature conservation and climate change,” said the Rashtrapati Bhavan in a media statement. Droupadi recalled the time when she was of the age of the students during her interaction. “She shared her experiences of caring for plants and animals. The students responded with enthusiasm and offered many suggestions too,” added the Rashtrapati Bhavan in a media statement.

Ahead of the completion of two years in the office, Murmu had released four volumes of books on her tenure as President of India. She had received first copies of four books namely, ‘Wings to Our Hopes’; ‘Aashaon Ki Udaan’; ‘Kahani Rashtrapati Bhavan Ki’; and ‘Rashtrapati Bhavan: Heritage Meets the Present’.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan had presented the books to Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
“These books, published by the Directorate of Publications Division, were formally released earlier today at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr L. Murugan and Secretary Information and Broadcasting, Sanjay Jaju,” PIB had said in a media statement.

The books ‘Wings to Our Hopes’ and ‘Aashaon Ki Udaan’ are the collection of selected speeches of during first year of her Presidency. ‘Kahani Rashtrapati Bhavan Ki’ is a book for children which includes information about Rashtrapati Bhavan and Murmu in an interesting manner and simple language, added the PBI in the statement.
‘Rashtrapati Bhavan: Heritage Meets the Present’ is a pictorial representation of the history and architecture of Rashtrapati Bhavan and contains information about all the former Presidents. Information about Murmu and pictures of the major events of current Presidency are also part of the book, said the PIB in the statement.
