Dirty street play in Lok Sabha; BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri burns Modi’s plea for cordial parliament

New Delhi, September 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sought the cooperation of the members for cordial functioning of parliament. Four days later, the Lok Sabha MP from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ramesh Bidhuri profusely abused fellow parliamentarian Danish Ali of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). His abuses and expletives have been struck off from the records of the Lok Sabha on the direction of Speaker Om Birla.

Deputy leader of the Lok Sabha Rajnath Singh expressed regrets for the abusive behaviour of his party colleague. Birla has warned that he would take strict action against the erring member. The BJP has issued a show cause notice against Bidhuri, asking him to explain why action be not taken against him.

The Opposition has called for suspension of Bidhuri from the Lok Sabha. Ali has told reporters that he is thinking of quitting the Lok Sabha if appropriate action is not taken against Bidhuri.

“I couldn’t sleep whole night,” said Bidhuri, who is an MP from Uttar Pradesh. Bidhuri abused him while speaking on discussion on the successful Chandrayan-3 mission.

Ironically, Modi had appealed the members that they should allow cordial functioning of parliament in pursuit to the resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047. While Bidhuri was abusing Ali, his party colleague and former Union Minister Harsh Vardhan was seen laughing. The incident took place last night.

In a letter to Birla, Ali has appealed for action against Bidhuri, while writing all the abuses that were hurled at him. Since the abuses have been struck off the record of the Lok Sabha, they cannot be reproduced according to the norms of reporting, but the video of Bidhuri has gone viral in which he is seen hurling chaste abuses at the BSP MP.

Bidhuri is the BJP’s two term Lok Sabha MP from South Delhi. He had previously been an MLA in the Delhi Assembly. “Abusing Muslims, OBCs an integral part of BJP culture – most now see nothing wrong with it. @narendramodi has reduced Indian Muslims to living in such a state of fear in their own land that they grin & bear everything,” Mahua Moitra, the TMC MP said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
