New Delhi, October 5: High drama unfolded on Saturday after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs called on Delhi Chief Minister Atishi. The BJP MLAs had sought an appointment with the chief minister over the issue of the reinstatement of bus marshals.
Atishi gave an appointment to the BJP MLAs to meet her at the Delhi secretariat. When BJP MLAs reached for the scheduled meeting with the chief minister, the Aam Adami Party (AAP) MLAs and bus marshals also reached the venue.
Afterwards, high drama unfolded at the venue of the meeting. The BJP MLAs expressed their displeasure and started leaving the meeting, said an eyewitness.

On this, the bus marshals started pleading with folded hands to the BJP MLAs not to leave the meeting venue. After a lot of persuasion, the BJP MLAs stayed back and took their seats at the meeting venue.
“After this, a cabinet meeting was held immediately. A cabinet note was prepared. The BJP MLAs were asked to go to the Lieutenant Governor Vinai Saxena’s residence to hand over the Cabinet note,” added the eyewitness.
The BJP MLAs got furious at the unexpected turn of events. Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj held the feet of a BJP MLA. The AAP released a photo on X and called it historic. Atishi, ministers and MLAs went to the Lieutenant Governor with the Cabinet note.
The BJP MLAs tried their best to escape but Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj and AAP leaders did not let them escape, said the eyewitness. Chief Minister Atishi herself went to the Lieutenant Governor’s residence in the car of a BJP MLA. Thus, she denied the BJP MLAs chance to escape the ordeal.

“After this, a lot of drama was also done outside the Lieutenant Governor’s residence. The AAP MLAs spread out on the road to protest against the alleged inaction of the LG for the reinstatement of the marshals,” said the eyewitness.
During the tenure of Arvind Kejriwal as the chief minister, the Delhi government had appointed more than 10,000 bus marshals in DTC buses as Civil Defense Volunteers. Last year, all these bus marshals were removed after the Directorate of Civil Defence raised objections.
The issue of appointment of bus marshals is being raised before the assembly elections to be held in February next year. The BJP alleges that the AAP-led government took the decision to remove the bus marshals and now they are being misled and the Lieutenant Governor is being blamed.
On Friday, AAP ministers and MLAs protested outside the Lieutenant Governor’s residence along with the bus marshals. After this, the BJP sought time to meet the Chief Minister and once again a situation of chaos arose.
The BJP alleged that now the AAP will not be able to mislead the people of Delhi by doing drama. The decision to remove the bus marshals was of the Delhi government and now AAP leaders are doing drama on the road for appointment, the BJP MLAs alleged.
