BJP’s Delhi Win A Throwback to 1973 Bruce Lee Film Script

New Delhi, February 9: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) conceded defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is set to submit resignation to pave way for formation of a new government in the city.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gained almost seven per cent to rock the citadel of the AAP. A dozen percentage vote swing away from the AAP denied a positive referendum on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s honesty.
The BJP bid to tame Kejriwal had come cropper in the 2015 and the 2020 Assembly elections. Kejriwal established an image of an educated middle class who was wearing honesty on his sleeves.
Kejriwal’s image proved a major challenge to the APP. “Delhi victory of the BJP can be understood with the 1973 martial art film Enter The Dragon in the backdrop,” former Editor of The Tribune KV Prasad told The Rasina Hills.
Martial art icon Bruce Lee had starred in the internationally acclaimed film. An island held for illicit operations is at the centre stage of the film. Lee has the task to free the island from Han, the principal antagonist of the movie.
Lee chases Han in the climax of the film to a museum in the island. “Han retrieves a bladed-talon replacement for his hand to prepare for a brutal fight. Han retreats into a room full of mirrors, which proves disorientating for Lee,” Wikipedia states in a description of the film.
Prasad stated that the BJP also faced the challenge of disorientation with images of Kejriwal taking numerous forms. The enigma of Kejriwal overwhelmed the Delhi politics.
But Lee stumbled upon a strategy. He smashes all the mirrors. This destroyed Han’s illusions. Lee tosses Han that leaves him impaled on his own spear stuck in a wall.
Kejriwal built a daunting image of honesty to launch himself into politics. Media called him an anti-corruption crusader.
The BJP-led Central government’s probe agencies sent him to jail on corruption charges. To further destroy his honesty image, Kejriwal’s key aides preceded him in landing in jails for corruption charges.
The BJP hit the street with ‘Sheeshmahal’ and ‘Sharab Ghotala’ poll plank. The saffron gust against Kejriwal got the wind power from the Opposition Congress.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also raised the charges of ‘Sheeshmahal’ and ‘Sharab Ghotala’ against Kejriwal. By noon on Saturday, the ‘anti-corruption’ crusader had been impaled in his own weapon.
