New Delhi, November 18: A day ahead of the ICC World Cup Cricket final match, the minimum airfare for Ahmedabad from New Delhi today is Rs 22,000 for a ticket of Saturday which goes in excess of Rs 28000 also. The Railways is running special trains to clear the extra rush of the cricket fans.
Grand finale preparations have been unveiled for the final match between India and Australia in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Airshows, claimed to be a never before, led by the Suryakiran of Air Force, will dazzle the crowd for 10 minutes before the opening of the match. Also, cricketing icons who won the world cup in the past will be feted in a grand manner. The drone shows will light the skyline of the Narendra Modi cricket stadium to make the occasion grand.
With the airfares blasting off the roof as the fans rush for Ahmedabad, the Railways has pressed into service special trains to clear the crowd from New Delhi and Mumbai. “This train to Ahmedabad has been launched to clear the heavy rush because of the ICC World Cup final to be played on Sunday. All others are reporting long waiting lists while airfare is Rs 20,000 to 40,000,” said a senior official of the Railways.
The official said that the seats are available and prices of seats are many times lower than that of surged airfair. The Sleeper berth will cost Rs 620, 3AC economy will come at Rs 1525, and Rs 1665 for 3AC along with Rs 3490 for the 1st AC offer affordable options for the cricket fans rushing to Ahmedabad.
“This Delhi – Ahmedabad- Delhi train will start today evening from Delhi and tomorrow morning will reach Ahmedabad. Again after match (ie around 11:00 pm); train will start at 2:30 AM from Ahmedabad for Delhi after the match gets over,” added the official.
The Railways has also commissioned similar special trains for Ahmedabad from Mumbai which will begin operations today to cater to the needs of the cricket fans. Several fans are expected to catch trains from New Delhi and Mumbai for Ahmedabad today to catch the India-Australia final match.
