Congress’ ‘40% sarkara’ Karnataka campaign team moves to Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi, June 20: The ad agency hired by the Congress that created the ‘40% commission sarakara’ campaign against Basavaraj Bommai-led erstwhile Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun working in Madhya Pradesh. The agency is learnt to be testing the slogan ‘50% commission sarkar’ against Shivraj Singh Chouahn-led BJP government in Madhya Pradesh.
The agency hired by the Congress had come up with ‘killer’ campaign against Bommai government that seemingly pinned down the BJP on corruption plank so much so that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s high-voltage campaign also came rudderless in Karnataka.
“The Congress is already working on the campaign themes for Madhya Pradesh. Target will surely be CM Chouhan, and the Congress will pin him down on the lines of Bommai in Karnataka. Creative team of the agency is at work to create campaign slogans that will set the poll narrative in Madhya Pradesh,” sources said.
The Congress had built the poll campaign in Karnataka on the allegations of rampant corruption under the watch of Bommai. The ad agency hired by the Congress had woven a web of visual campaign, including ‘PayCM’ QR code image, to give domino effect to the party’s electioneering.
Taking cues from the success of the Karnataka poll campaign, the Congress moved the whole team immediately after the poll result in the southern state to Madhya Pradesh to give “time advantage for the visual campaign to connect with the people”. Sources said that the Congress would once more repeat the Karnataka poll template of singling out the incumbent chief minister, while building narrative on five-guarantee.
“Even before the BJP could realise, the Congress had already taken campaign in its favour by smashing the image of Bommai and wrap him in the corruption frame from which he could never come out. The same template is being tested in Madhya Pradesh,” sources added.
Madhya Pradesh Assembly election is slated for November this year, and the Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has launched the party’s campaign in the state. Modi is also slated to kick-start the BJP campaign by addressing a rally from the state as part of the programme to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
The BJP’s ad agency, holding the account for a long time, has also begun working in Madhya Pradesh, while the state unit of the party is also banking on the in-house talent pool.
