New Delhi, November 18, 2025 — Major internet platforms such as X and OpenAI’s ChatGPT were disrupted on Tuesday evening following internet disruptions. Cloudfare, the supporting internet infrastructure firm, stated that the company was facing “internal degradation.”
Cloudfare in a later statement said that the restoration has been completed. For a significant span of time, major social media platforms such as X were down globally. X, formerly Twitter, is built on Cloufare infrastructure.
The chatbox of OpenAI, ChatGPT, was also globally affected due to the “internal degradations” in Cloudfare. Users were asked to answer security questions when they posted queries on ChatGPT.
X also didn’t post fresh messages while old posts were not displayed. However, X didn’t inform users about the technical glitch.
Reports said that thousands of websites globally were also affected due to the technical glitch of Cloudfare, which is an American company that provides a range of internet services, including content delivery network services, cybersecurity, DDoS mitigation, wide area network services, reverse proxies, Domain Name Service, ICANN-accredited and domain registration.
The fresh global technical glitch came close on the heels of disruptions in services of Amazon, which also hosts millions of websites. Cloudfare like Amazon is an internet infrastructure company with a global clientele base.
“Cloudflare is experiencing an internal service degradation. Some services may be intermittently impacted. We are focused on restoring service,” the company said in a note on its service status dashboard.
Later, Cloudfare posted “a fix has been implemented and we believe the incident is now resolved. We are continuing to monitor for errors to ensure all services are back to normal.”
