New Delhi, October 10 – Narendra Modi government’s initiative to construct 32 Kilometre long road to link Noida International Airport, NIA, Jewar with IGI Airport in the national capital is expected to further move with related ministries namely the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of urban Development and other related central ministries meeting soon to expedite the project, which is crucial for the success of the Noida International Airport.

The Rs 3,000 Crore road project which links Noida International Airport to IGI Airport, is also crucial given that the real estate industry, properties around Noida International Airport are up and moving. The project is expected to be completed by June 2025.

The NIA would have a ground transportation centre (GTC), which combines all modes of transport under one roof near the Jewar airport. Modelled on the lines of Zurich airport, NIA will also house public transport facilities like private parking bus services, metro, taxis.

Union Road, Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari had in June this year announced a new road connectivity between NIA in Uttar Pradesh and the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi. The proposed road will also be connected to the Delhi Mumbai expressway (DME) and is part of the plan to provide world-class connectivity to the Jewar airport.

The road-link between the IGI airport and Jewar airport will be in addition to the proposed Metro Rail that will connect Noida International Airport and Delhi’s IGI Airport Via New Delhi Railway Station. Currently, the Airport Express Line connects New Delhi Railway Station to the IGI Airport. Along with metro connectivity, NIA will also have connectivity to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

In November 2022, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had signed an agreement with Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) for construction of the aforementioned metro rail link.  A detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared.

Additionally, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is developing a 31.4 km long 6-lane expressway to connect the NIA with 59 km DND-Faridabad-Ballabgarh Bypass KMP Link. This will further activate traffic on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway.
