New Delhi, June 8: The Centre on Saturday constituted a four-member panel to examine issues concerning the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) for undergraduate medical education. The panel will submit the report in a week time.
The Ministry of Education on Saturday stated that the panel will examine various allegations concerning six centres. K Sanjay Murthy, the secretary of the Ministry of Education, dismissed the demand for a retest of the NEET examination.
“The allegations against the NEET concern six centres and 1600 students. The four-member panel will look into all issues, including the CCTV footages,” said Murthy while addressing a press conference at the National Media centre in the national capital.

The official argued that the marks were inflated on the basis of the Supreme Court judgment to compensate for the time loss. But a major controversy erupted after a whopping sixty-seven students topped the NEET examination in 2024.
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the alleged scam in the NEET Exams. He alleged that the paper leaks in the NEET Exam took place.
Murthy, however, dismissed the allegation of the paper leak. He said that the paper leak videos surfaced on the social media platforms after the commencement of the examination.
“We examined all the complaints submitted. Now, the issue concerns the 1600 students at six centres. The panel will look into all aspects,” added Murthy.

The official said that the admission process will not be affected because of the mandate of the panel. A UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) member will also be a part of the panel. Murthy refused to give details of the members.
“The committee was formed to examine complaints raised by the candidates of the NEET Exams. The committee had recommended that compensatory marks be awarded to students who were affected by the time loss,” said Subodh Kumar Singh of the National Testing Agency.
The official said that some students were affected because of the wrong papers circulated to them. He said that the newly-formed panel report will be basis of further changes in the way the NEET exams are held.
He also rejected the claims of the Maharashtra government that injustice has been done to the students from the state. The students are holding massive protests all across the country against the alleged irregularities in the NEET Exams this year.
