Govt attacks Opposition for ruckus in parliament

New Delhi, July 25: Union Minister for parliamentary affairs Kiren Rijiju on Thursday said that “parliament session is not for gali galauj (abuses and diatribes)”. Rijiju said that the Opposition should associate with the resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047.
“The Opposition is doing gali galauj in parliament. The Opposition parties are not talking about the positive aspects of the Budget,” said Rijiju.
The parliamentary affairs minister was speaking to the media at his residence. He spoke to the media one hour ahead of the commencement of the day’s proceedings in parliament on Thursday.

“The Budget session is not for doing politics. The Opposition parties are abusing the prime minister. They are disrespecting the mandate,” said Rijiju.
The minister said that the Opposition parties should associate constructively in making India a developed nation by 2024. “In the third term of Prime Minister Modi, India will become the third largest economy of the world. The Opposition should cooperate in making India a developed nation,” said Rijiju.
The minister rued that the Opposition parties held protests yesterday in parliament. “The manner in which the Opposition parties conducted in parliament yesterday was most disappointing,” added Rijiju.

The minister said that “Prime Minister Modi has the people’s mandate”. “Prime Minister Modi has not got mandate from the heaven. The people have given him the mandate to make India a developed nation by 2027. The Opposition should work for making India a developed nation by 2047,” added Rijiju.
The minister also rued that the Opposition members didn’t speak about “the good things in the Budget about agriculture”. “The Opposition should not do politics. They should just focus on Budget in the parliament session,” advised Rijiju.
The Opposition yesterday raised the issue of alleged discrimination against states in the Budget. They alleged that while Bihar and Andhra Pradesh were favoured in the Budget, interests of other states were ignored.

The chief ministers of four states have announced the boycott of the Governing Council meeting of the Niti Aayog. They will be boycotting the meeting to protest the alleged discrimination against them in the Budget.
Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, and West Bengal will not be taking part in the meeting of the Niti Aayog. The Governing Council meeting of the Niti Aayog is the only forum where the Centre and the states come on a single platform to discuss policy matters.
