Mumbai, October 17, 2025 — Pop icon Britney Spears has issued a blistering response to her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s forthcoming memoir You Thought You Knew. She refuted his claims while accusing him of calculating public attacks that exploit her emotional wounds.
In two lengthy posts on X, Spears expressed anguish over long-standing tensions with their now-adult sons, Sean Preston (20) and Jayden James (19), accusing her former partner of “constant gaslighting” and perpetuating “white lies” for profit. She revealed that over the past five years, one son has seen her for just 45 minutes, while the other has visited only four times.
“I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys,” she wrote, adding, “They need to take responsibility for themselves. … Those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here.”
Spears criticized Federline’s depiction of her mental health, drinking habits, and parenting as overstated portrayals designed to sell books rather than reveal truth. She emphasized she has long sought a quieter, more grounded life since her conservatorship ended in 2021, noting: “If you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking.”
Federline’s memoir per The Guardian reportedly includes alarming allegations — including an incident in which Spears allegedly watched their children sleep while holding a knife, accusations of substance use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, claims of mistreatment, and questions about her fitness as a mother.
Today’s clash adds fresh fuel to an already volatile chapter of Spears’ public life — one that has often intertwined deeply personal relationships with media spectacle. As her memoir The Woman in Me detailed her journey and trials, this latest confrontation reopens wounds and invites renewed scrutiny.
With You Thought You Knew slated for release on October 21, the coming days may bring more revelations — and perhaps more rebuttals — in a battle over narrative, legitimacy, and the right to one’s own story.
